Beautiful hand-carved bone pendant of a playful dolphin and her calf.

Dolphins played an important part in Maori culture. They are seen as bearers of good luck and protectors of people at sea. They also represent good family life, as the young are guided, nurtured and protected by the wider group as well as the parents. This same concept exists in Maori culture, with the extended family or whanau.

Width: 1.4" (35 mm)

Includes a waxed braid cord with hand-carved bone toggle, a traditional woven presentation case and a detailed description of the meaning of the carving.
